Fondant: Most people avoid fondant for two reasons. The taste and the cost. Personally I just am not a fan of the texture, but my kids love it. This is the first cake I made with fondant. Although it is super cute, it tasted HORRID! I used the Wilton ready to roll junk. It was pricey and stinky and YUCKY!!!

Thankfully, someone in my class passed on a delicious homemade recipie. It cuts the cost and it tastes great! My friends says it reminds her of those circus peanut candies. The chocolate tastes like a tootsie roll according to another friend. So here are some cakes I've made with my own fondant.
Fake cake: I know a lot of people will make cakes from styrofoam or other materials to cut costs, mostly on wedding cakes. Well, this drives me nuts! I dealt with this when looking for my own wedding cake. The thing is, it doesn't save that much money and you can't eat it. At the same time, a lot of people don't eat or serve the cake so that is fine. My solution was taught to me by a friend. Use rice krispy treats. They taste great, kids love them, they are super easy to work with, and they are so inexpensive to make!!! Here are a couple cakes made in part or whole from rice krispies.
Again, the dress is made from rice krispies.

I love them all!
So cool! My personal favorite is that Jungle cake - what a cool idea ;) Oh, and I realized the other day that your fondant kind of tastes like candy corn. Yours is better of course. I gorged myself on candy corn trying to convince myself that it was the same as eating one of your cakes. Not quite as good, but it'll do in a pinch.
Awesome cakes! You are very talented!

Oh talented one. Once again you show me how awesome you are. I must agree the jungle one is very cool. I really like the brown wedding cake. And I had fond memories of the whit and blue wedding cake. If I remember correctly that is the one you wanted to borrow the mirror from my sister for (it's what brought us together!).
You are amazing Camille, they are all beautiful, you should start a business!!!
You are SO talented! I love them all and can't wait to see more!
My daughter seriously loves the princess cake. I have to say it is unfathomable to me for someone not to like cake. Yummy. They are bee-u-ti-ful! Do you think I could get the circus peanut tasting frosting recipe? I wish I lived close enough to taste one first hand. For now, I will have to dream.
Seriously, they look awesome! I don't know what you are so nervous about.
